The Homestead, Bedford Crescent
Owners - Helen and Paul Prescott
Here we are again, for the third time. Previously we opened in 2016 and 2018, relating how first, we lost a large Rowan tree to one side of the garden, and then in 2017 our old Crab Apple tree died. Sadly, the theme continues, as last year and over the winter it became evident that one of our lovely Laburnum trees had also died. We think that it's most likely their age taking its toll. A new Sambucus has been added to the rear part of the garden this spring.
The back garden is roughly a square shape with a large grassed area edged mainly by a selection of shrubs and with a heather bed, a pond and a small bed with a couple of box bushes in the middle of the grass. Behind the garage is a bramble area for blackberries and a vegetable plot and there are also fruit trees - apple, pear, greengage, damson and fruit bushes - gooseberry, blackberry, redcurrant, autumn raspberry, rhubarb and loganberry. Some years we have hazelnuts too, but the squirrels often get to them first.
