FRIMLEY GREEN LIBRARY COMMUNITY GARDEN

Manager - Maxine Mawr

In November 1999 “The Friends of the Library” decided to change the waste ground next to the library into a community garden. All the funds had to be raised from local businesses, donations, coffee mornings etc. In January 2000 a plan was agreed, and since then a lot of hard work by volunteers, the “Friends” and the local Rotary Club has produced what you see today. It is now a wonderful garden with winding paths, disabled access, a story time circle, replanted trees, donated shrubs and seating, which all the community can enjoy.Unfortunately in 2005 the large ash tree in the centre of the story time circle had to be felled, but has been replaced by a catalpa bignoides (Indian Bean tree). The garden may not be manned on the day.
